"An old Italian artist told me I paint in the same style that the old masters did, layer after layer of glazes, and that it's a lost art. He had never met an American who paints like this. I love using the thin layers of glazes because the light gets in and is refracted.

To create Dolphina I used 40-60 layers of glazes. I started by painting it all monochromatic (black and white). Then I colored the painting with glazes like a coloring book."
