Frank Berumen

As a boy of 12, Frank Berumen learned his craft from his grandfather. Ever since that time, he has been in pursuit of creating perfect vessels.

"My first recollection of wood turning is about helping my grandfather. I used to pull the rope pully that powered the spindle he used for making chair legs round. When I moved to California, I studied hollowing techniques from Jon Jordon's videos. While apprenticing for Chuck McLaughland, in Sebastopol, I used a variety of woods to turn all types of fine decorative pieces.
However, I prefer the challenge that a hollow, semi-closed form
affords."

The craftsmanship and Frank Berumendesign in Berumen's work are outstanding. The shapes of his vessels, with their lace-like grain, are exquisite.
