| " I have always been drawn to wood; the feel, the patterns and colors, the wonderful and varied smells. That woodwork has become the physical part of my life seems as natural but also as mysterious as salmon returning to their birth streams or waterfowl re-tracing their millenial pathways. I think that all existence is well-described as a turning; an eternal turning.
What a marvelous marriage then, a chunk of wood and a lathe. There is a particular joy in simulating the circular patterns traced by orbiting electrons, that one experiences by turning on a lathe and shaping the form of a bowl or other vessel out of some patterned and fragrant wood. That my endeavors in turning are appreciated and supported by collectors of wooden ware is a continuing source of happiness and encouragement to me."
